Shooting digital video can be fun but taking that raw footage and turning it into a slickly produced DVD can be more rewarding still. You'll need some software, of course, and this latest version of DVD MovieFactory is aimed squarely at newcomers to the world of video editing.
A wizard guides you through the process from start to finish. Video and still images can be imported from a wide variety of digital and - with a TV capture card - analogue sources, including VCR and TV broadcasts.
Things are kept simple on the editing front and unwanted footage can be easily removed. Transitions can be added and it's a simple matter to incorporate titles, a soundtrack or even your own spoken commentary. Add a menu, complete with mini video clips and the whole thing can be previewed before committing it to DVD.
It may be deliberately light on advanced features but this makes it a delight to use and impressive results can be achieved with the minimum of fuss. The documentation is good and the package is difficult to fault at this price. The only minor flaw is that it can't export footage back to a DV camera.
