With more of us amassing integrated technology such as digital cameras, camcorders, email, smartphones, PDAs and laptops, the number of files that the average computer user now has to handle is enormous.
The manual, and sometimes momentous, operation of moving and copying these files, either in folders, drives or on separate computers and laptops, can also be daunting.
Microsoft's free SyncToy for Windows hopes to solve these problems. Thankfully, it delivers on its promise to simplify the process of copying, moving and synchronization.
With the ability to manage multiple sets of folders simultaneously, you can combine two folders while mimicking renames and deletes in another.
It's fast and easy to use and, unlike other syncing software, keeps track of renames when moving to a synchronized folder.
This is the beta preview of the forthcoming major revision and has been completely re-engineered.
