Toshiba has extended its line of 1.8in drives with a new model capable of storing 100GB.

"I can remember when 100GB was only possible in desk-bound PCs, yet with our new hard disk drive designers can bring to market pocket-sized devices that pack just as much storage punch," said Martin Larsson, general manager of Toshiba's European Storage Device Division.

Toshiba has a longstanding contract to supply its mini drives to Apple for use in the iPod. With the kind of data transfer speeds the drive is capable of, it would be suitable for displaying videos as well as music.
