Opera browser runs faster on Linux

Beta version 6 is launched

Written by Nick Farrell

The latest version of Opera 6 beta version for Linux was released yesterday.

The beta version boasts features such as speed-boosting that only exist in the Linux version of the web browser.

Dean Kakridas, VP desktop products at Opera Software ASA, said that another key feature is non-roman alphabet functionality for the Asian and Eastern European market.

In a statement he said: "Opera 5.0 for Linux has been incredibly popular among our Linux desktop users, and we are very happy to see that one million have downloaded and installed Opera."

"There is clearly a demand for a better internet experience in the Linuxcommunity," Kakridas said.
