IFRS up in smoke

The week in review from Taking Stock

Written by TS

TS has never been one to indulge in the imbibing of illegal substances. Frankly, there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to destroy your body with the wealth of legal intoxicants that are available.

If we do have a change of heart, however, and fancy dabbling in illicit substances, we'll be sure to make Sir David Tweedie our first port of call. In one of his latest anecdotes, it seems the venerable head of the IASB may have some 'herbal medicine' growing in his garden.

If this does turn out to be the case, which somehow TS doubts, he may want to think about handing out a free sample to the poor suckers who are having to deal with all the standards he's responsible for introducing. Some of those on the audit frontline could do with relaxing a bit when it comes to working out interpretations.

Those working on IFRS projects for Domino's Pizza won't we worrying too much. Anyone there struck by the munchies need only have a word with the FD, who will be able to rustle them up with a fulfilling feast in no time.

Unfortunately this week, TS has to finish with some bad news. Stoners everywhere will be sad to hear about the potential closure of Jim Henson's Creature Shop, responsible for creating Muppets characters and other things. Still, there are always old Cheech and Chong movies to rely on.
