XML is a file format that is becoming very popular. It is similar to the language used for webpages, HTML, but can be used for more tasks.
Although XML is written in text and is billed as 'human readable', it can be hard to make sense of without some form of help.
XML Notepad is a useful little utility from Microsoft for this purpose. As well as providing a friendlier interface for these documents it can be used to copy and paste information, and there is a search function as well.
The .NET Framework must be installed on the computer for XML Notepad to work as it is written in the C# programming language. .NET has been included with Windows Update for some time so this is unlikely to be a problem.
