The Winfast PVR does not just equip your PC with a TV picture but also supports hard disk television recording and radio.

The card is simple enough to set up, just pop it in a free PCI slot, insert the supplied CD and Windows will do the rest. An FM radio aerial is included, but for a decent quality TV picture you'll need to connect it to your main rooftop aerial.

The Winfast PVR supports picture-in-picture, so you can view live TV and a recording at the same time, which is useful if you fancy watching Eastenders while keeping track of the football scores. An electronic programme guide is included, allowing schedules to be viewed and recordings to be set. Teletext can also be accessed.

The supplied software - Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2.5 and VideoStudio 7 SD - makes it possible to transfer old favourites from video to DVD, copy video directly to disc from a video camera and lets you edit your own creations.

It's more fiddly to use than the Shining Tbox but once up and running, it provides couch potatoes with a load more TV features.
