One of the ways in which computers are supposed to make our lives easier is navigation. Too often, though, the hurdle to using computerised maps is in getting the whole thing set up correctly, which is what the ViaMichelin GPS Solution is designed to correct.
The box contains a Kirrio GPS unit and a handheld computer; the kit we looked at contained a PalmOne Zire 72 handheld and a Bluetooth GPS device.
The software for the Palm came installed on a memory card, so it's just a case of plugging it in and setting a few options. Even the GPS unit was detected correctly.
Using it to navigate was a bit more problematic: the device found it very difficult to pick up a signal in central London.
The software is easy to use, though, without too many options to set, and the maps provided are detailed and accurate.
