If you're prone to getting lost on your travels, the Medion MDPNA is a handheld computer and GPS navigation device that will point you in the right direction. It uses the Microsoft Pocket PC operating system alongside navigation software that includes Maps of the UK and western Europe.

Thanks to its integrated flip-up GPS receiver, the MDPNA is able to pinpoint your exact location and project it onto its large, colour display. The maps are very detailed and even pinpoint notable landmarks such as petrol stations and hotels, which is useful.

Planning a route is easy: just enter your destination postcode or street name (it will even recognise specific house numbers), and the MDPNA will calculate a route. You can specify the types of road you prefer to drive on (motorways or B-roads, for example), and add waypoints, so you can travel to your chosen destination on a personalised route.

The MDPNA can also be used like a standard handheld PC. It uses a 266MHz processor, 64Mb of memory, has a 256Mb MMC memory card and contains pocket versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet Explorer.

Unfortunately it doesn't include either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, so to surf the web you'll need to add a wireless card to the SD/MMC slot.

On the whole, though, this is a useful and efficient device that proves good value for money.
