Digital terrestrial TV is becoming more and more common in PCs these days, particularly with the advent of Microsoft's Media Center Edition of Windows XP.
However, notebook PC users have been poorly served, since most digital TV cards come in the form of add-in cards that require installation in a desktop PC.
The supplied aerial is small, which makes it handy for people on the move, but it didn't work very well. Digital television requires a strong signal and this aerial wasn't up to the job, particularly when indoors. However, when we connected it to a roof-mounted home aerial the device worked very well.
The supplied software was simple to set up and use, and picture and sound quality were impressive. The device can display high-definition signals, but since there will be no such broadcasts in the UK until 2006 at the earliest, it's a little pre-emptive.
The aerial may not be much use on the move, but when added to a convenient fixed aerial, this is a good way to add digital TV to a computer.
