The sheer range of iPod and mp3 player accessories, particularly speakers, is mind-boggling; you can be sure you’ll find something suitably stylish whatever the occasion.

In the case of the Logic3 i-Station Traveller, it’s a portable offering designed to carry around with you on the move.

Despite the name, it’s not particularly oriented towards iPods; the 3.5mm input makes it compatible with almost all portable players, along with a 2.5mm adapter for mobile phones (or other players that require it).

The i-Station Traveller takes four (supplied) AAA batteries that fit into the centre compartment. This also accommodates your portable audio player on a rubberised support and the speakers slide together to sandwich almost any sized player rather stylishly in between.

There’s an on/off button at the side but, strangely, no volume control, which for powered speakers is a bit odd. Instead, volume has to be adjusted from the digital audio player itself. While not a major issue this may prove a little awkward on some players depending on the position of the volume control.

Being fairly compact, we weren’t expecting thumping bass or particularly impressive sound. Even at full volume though, they don’t distort, and aside from a very faint hissing we were pleased by the audio clarity. We would have liked a tad more volume from the twin 2W speakers, though
The unit feels pretty solid and is well supported thanks to rubber grips on the base. It comes in six different colours, varying from a more conventional black and silver design to some pretty radical fluorescent shades. It also comes with a soft carry case.

In a market swimming with similar travel speakers we liked the styling and solid feel of the Traveller series. While offering nothing mind-blowing in terms of performance they’re certainly adequate, and for the price you can’t go far wrong.
