Water utility installs GIS

Thames Valley Water has invested #210,000 in strategic planning and analysis software form Smallworld. The system will produce reports for water regulator Ofwat, analyse where new mains are needed or where old ones must be replaced, and aid the authority's leakage reduction programme. The utility will have two Smallworld global information system workstations in each of its 10 operational areas and a further three at Thames Valley Water's head office in Hatfield.
