Haringey Council has become the first local authority in the country to go live with the SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) 2005 upgrade.

The council worked with LogicaCMG to deliver the upgrade, which will enable Haringey to streamline its back office and put more resources into working with customers.

Haringey installed the previous version of the system in 2002, but Kamla Chetty, the council’s SAP project manager, says requirements have changed.

‘We decided to deploy the software to a wider group in Haringey with increased functionality, which we could not have done with the old version without considerable configuration,’ she said.

‘The upgrade gave us cost avoidance and now we do not have to worry about an upgrade until 2010.’
