Revenue from BT's operations in India is expected to reach $250m (£123m) by 2009, according to the telecoms company.

BT India services has experienced massive growth over the past three years, including a seven-fold increase in bandwidth.

"Our plans are well on track and we are poised to reach our target," said Allen Ma, president of BT Asia-Pacific.

The company also announced expansions to its communications system. BT plans to increase the number of connecting points to its multi-protocol label switching infrastructure – the network that supports video and Voice over IP services.
