Attacks on Whitehall were blamed on hackers from China

China is cyber-victim, not cyber-criminal

Countries should face online threats together, says researcher from Chinese military academy

Written by Tom Young

China is more of a victim of cyber-attacks than a perpetrator, according to a Chinese military researcher.

Recent online attacks on Western governments in the US, UK and Germany have been blamed on Chinese hackers. But Beijing denies the reports.

Western countries should be working with China to defend against a common enemy Wang Xinjun, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences, told the official Xinhua news agency.

"China is facing a more severe information security situation than any Western country, but the Chinese government never blames it on any other country and insists on calling for international cooperation to crack down on internet-wrecking crime." he said.
