Microsoft invests $280m in Chinese development centre

Plans to raise number of workers to 3,000

Microsoft has announced its biggest ever investment in China with plans to spend $280m (£140m) on a research and development centre that will eventually hold 3,000 staff.

The centre will be located in Beijing's Zhongguancun hi-tech region. It will be Microsoft's largest R&D facility outside the US.
