Mobile technology may be an important ally for corporate travel managers, but
few have done anything about it, according to research from travel specialist
Amadeus.
Seventy two managers polled by the firm cited tracking and communication of
travellers for security purposes as the main benefit of mobile phone use.
Some 98 per cent said that mobile devices are an important tool in informing
travelling staff of security alerts in emergency situations and 92 per cent
mentioned that the fact technology allows travellers to get GPS directions as
an advantage.
And using mobile phones to improve compliance was another benefit quoted by
88 per cent of the respondents, who mentioned the advantages of allowing staff
to make and amend travel plans while on the move.
But the Amadeus report also said that despite recognising the benefits of
mobile phone use, only “a handful” of travel managers had integrated the
technology into their travel agenda.
