BSA launches directory

Free online asset management offered to resellers

Written by Sara Yirrell

The Business Software Alliance (BSA) is aiming to strike another blow against piracy by launching a free online asset-management directory.

The BSA hopes resellers will sign up to help it promote IT asset management.

The list, which covers all of the UK, can be accessed via the BSA website.

"We currently have 15 resellers among the many companies on the list, but we hope more will sign up," said Siobhan Carroll, the BSA's regional manager for northern Europe.

"Asset management is not a once-a-year activity. It is something we expect firms to build into their systems on an ongoing basis. The channel is the key to this, in terms of guiding businesses in the right direction."

Neil Cook, director sales operations at Symantec EMEA, said: "Software asset management can be a complex process in many companies, which are dealing with different licensing schemes from multiple vendors.

"Initiatives such as this make it easier for firms to access and assess the offerings of software asset management providers."
