Top Layer gets a Fresh approach

Ambitious security distributor signs another vendor to its stable

Bullish security distributor Fresh Egg has expanded its vendor portfolio by signing intrusion prevention player Top Layer Networks.

The deal will see Fresh Egg recruit new resellers on behalf of Top Layer, as well as working with its existing reseller network.

Paul Lawrence, vice-president and general manager EMEA and Asia at Top Layer, said: “Fresh Egg brings a new approach to a traditional two-tier operation. It is an aggressive distributor and its extensive network means we get better coverage.”

Top Layer works with equIP in the UK, but claimed the Fresh Egg appointment would create healthy competition in the market.

“It is useful to have competition. Sometimes when you have a single channel, complacency arises, but this will give VARs the choice of partners. Fresh Egg is also very good at identifying new resellers that are capable of taking our product to the market as well as having a significant VAR base.”

Graham Fox, managing director of Fresh Egg, said: “At the end of the day, what we are trying to do is grow our product portfolio and give our resellers the complete spectrum of solutions ranging from gateway to desktop.

“A lot of companies want intrusion prevention and Top Layer has the best product in the market at the moment. By adding this product to our offering we can make sure customers stay one step ahead of the threats that are currently out there.”

Fox claimed that the distributor is seeing “massive interest” in the product from its resellers. “We have also been running an intensive end-user awareness campaign and the response to that has been fantastic,” he said.
