AYC Telecom reshuffles its distribution strategy

Vendor signs with Zycko after its previous distribution agreement with Hugh Symons ended

Written by Trevor Treharne

Voice over IP (VoIP) vendor AYC Telecom has changed its distribution strategy again after it signed Zycko and revealed another distributor deal could be in the pipeline.

Last year, ATC’s distribution agreements ended with Vcomm, Telappliant and Spot Distribution, and it operated with a sole distribution agreement with Hugh Symons (CRN, 3 October 2005).

The vendor’s relationship with Hugh Symons was then thrown into doubt after the distributor launched its own VoIP offering, SIPtrix (CRN, 10 July).

AYC will now be distributed through Zycko and Surrey-based distributor MyPhoneCall, which AYC signed earlier in the year.

Paul Howard, chief executive of AYC Telecom told CRN: “Hugh Symons had decided to go down the route of offering its SIPtrix product which conflicts with our offering, but it can still offer AYC on a sub-distribution basis.

“We are talking to other firms to see if we can put a major voice distributor in place,” he said. “We don’t want any conflict with Zycko or MyPhoneCall, so we will make sure the distributor will benefit our channel.”

Howard said Zycko has strong service provider relationships alongside a base of 3,000 VARs, 1,000 of which are highly active partners.

“AYC is the only product that has all the functionality and flexibility that small businesses require at a price they can afford,” added Howard.

David Galton-Fenzi, group sales director at Zycko, said: “We pitch the technology and vendors to get an overall solution. AYC can work together with other vendors for our voice and video offering.

“We lacked a true SME solution set. In the SME market you need a cost-effective, reliable and easy-to-install system. AYC has the richest suite of functionality at the lowest price.”
