Aggressive security vendor Trend Micro has registered a buoyant 17 per cent rise in sales for its full year results for 2006.

The Tokyo-based giant, which recently announced plans to double its UK and Ireland channel to 2,000 partners (CRN, 2 February), bagged a net profit of $146m on sales of $727m for the 12 months to the end of December.

Fourth quarter turnover increased 14 per cent on an annual comparison and 11 per cent sequentially.

Chief executive Eva Chen described it as a “healthy year” for the company, and also offered an insight into Trend’s product direction for the year ahead.

''In the past year, we delivered a number of new security solutions which prevent malicious content and attacks,” she said. “During 2007, we will continue this momentum by focusing on protection against web-based threats that can result in data leakage and information theft.”

Trend recently inked a distribution agreement with Westcon Group to push further into the UK Cisco market (CRN, 25 August).
