Samsung
is on the hunt for resellers to help it grab the number one spot across all
categories of displays in the UK over the next two years.
Gary Cove, newly appointed general manager of Samsung's display division, told
CRN: "My biggest objective is to replicate Samsungís European success
and get us to number one in the UK across all display products. We are number
one in large formats in the UK, but number three in desktop (17in to 22in),
behind Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Dell."
Previously, a business development director at distributor Steljes, Cove was one
of the seven management-level staff axed following Steljes's restructure earlier
this year (CRN, 16 April).
"I've only been in this role for four weeks, but am in the process of reviewing
where the biggest opportunities are for Samsung displays and will then make sure
weíre targeting those verticals if not already. Once I know which verticals
represent the biggest opportunities Iíll look to recruit resellers with specific
vertical strengths," said Cove.
Samsung displays are distributed by Computer 2000, Imago, Micro Peripherals,
Midwich and Westcoast.
"Samsung has some very well established distribution relationships for its
displays so it's not an area I have any concern for at present,"added Cove.
Lee Baker, divisional manager for home entertainment and displays at Midwich,
said: "We stock Samsung large format and TFT displays and have seen both product
sets grow substantially this year. Samsung
seems to have a display for every type of application now, so I have no doubt
that it will be a force to be
reckoned with."
