Realtime adds BFG to grab gamers

Realtime Distribution has signed an agreement with BFG Technologies, a US-based supplier of nVidia graphics cards.

The components distributor has claimed the deal will help it cater for its client base of PC assemblers and integrators working in the gaming market.
“Adding BFG to Realtime’s portfolio is fantastic for the channel as it adds one of the world’s leading vendors’ performance VGA cards to our portfolio of high-end PC components,” said Realtime sales manager Vasos Roberts. “Ultimately, it means the channel can increase its margin expectations.”
Realtime turned over £30m last year by specialising in high-end PC components for games enthusiasts.
“Our main market is gamers, overclockers and retail sites,” explained Richard Marsdon, sales manager at Realtime. “These customers want the best speed available and the best resolution, and that is what these cards can deliver. Serious gamers spend at least 40 per cent more on their PC components than other consumers.”
Roberts predicted a great market for this product. “These days everyone understands that VGA cards are key to getting the best from their PCs. For many people a GPU is thought of as the component that has the most opportunity to provide increased performance,” said Roberts.
Nick Boardman, managing director of high-end PC maker Rock, said the cards have strong brand value among the serious gamers.
BFG will offer lifetime warranties on all its graphics products and free expert technical support to its customers. Graham Brown, BFG’s marketing manager, promised a series of events to help the channel cash in on gaming.
“We are going to throw ourselves behind some serious gaming events, LAN party sponsorships and industry trade shows,” said Brown.
BFG’s current line-up includes the BFG nVidia Geforce 8800 GTS OC 512MB card, which has full support for PCI Express 2.0, and the second-generation nVidia Purevideo high-definition engine.
