Azzurri holds employee talks

The voice and data integrator this week told 84 staff they may be made redundant as part of cost-cutting drive

Azzurri Communications has confirmed it spoke to 84 of its staff on Monday to advise them that their role was “at risk”.

As reported by CRN, the voice and data integrator is looking to slash its cost base by 10 to 15 per cent as it prepares to streamline its business and create a more unified national structure (CRN, 10 March).

Azzurri said it is in consultation with affected employees, giving them a chance to discuss their selection, offer suggestions to reduce the cuts and discuss alternative employment within Azzurri.

The redundancies will be confirmed on 4 April. The BT, Cisco and Avaya partner currently has around 850 staff.

In a letter to employees, Noel McGonigle Azzurri’s group human resources director, said: “I realise that this is an unsettling time so wanted to thank you for your patience and commitment during the consultation process.

“In order for the company to execute its revised business plan it is vital that we now go about our business as usual, work through this difficult time, and focus on delivering the performance that will enable Azzurri to focus on growth for the future.”

McGonigle said the number of employees at risk was less than originally anticipated due to the cost saving ideas that have been suggested in the employee consultation process.
