The VP series incorporates all the features previously offered by its VG
business and VX consumer ranges and is aimed at the professional or consumer for
whom price is a minor consideration.
According to
ViewSonic,
the series offers improved colour and performance, and provides resellers with
the further opportunity to add value through selling colour calibration products
and services.

Though Viewsonic is a top brand monitor, it does not sell as well in the UK
as in foreign markets, according to Russell Cole, ViewSonic’s technical
marketing manager. This new range of products will change that, said Cole.
The new widescreens could appeal to a broad range of serious users that are
happy to pay more for a stylish, fully featured monitor with good colour
options.
“The screens are so expansive that users are able to have two A4 documents
displayed side by side. This is great for the professional user, who might want
to compare two versions of a document at once.
“It also reduces the chance of users needing to print off documents to read
them,” said Cole.
The flashy design, high-quality colour capability and ergonomic adjustments
would also make these monitors more appealing to the serious gamers.
“Anyone who spends six hours at a time staring at a screen is going to want
to be comfortable,” Cole added.
The VP 50 Series includes both a 22in and 26in widescreen VP2650wb and a
traditional, box shaped, 4:3 19in VP950b.
Resellers can add value to these monitors by calibrating the colour using
USB-delivered software.
Monitor specialist Pete Gamby, managing director of market analyst
Meko,
was not convinced this was the product to launch ViewSonic into the top-tier of
monitor suppliers.
“It has done well over the years, but ViewSonic is not first to market with
this side colour gamut. This is more like a product refresh,” he said.
