The Manchester-based firm, which partners vendors including HP, Intel, Avocent, Oki and Cisco, and works with about 1,000 resellers worldwide has secured £12.5m from Bank of Scotland Corporate to help it achieve its goals.

Martin Smith, managing director of Gamma Global, told CRN the firm already has a significant global presence including an end-to-end business in Paris, and offices in Milan, Birmingham, London, Eindhoven, Bangalore, Los Angeles and Hong Kong. It is also looking at opportunities in the Middle East.

“Last year we turned over £51m and we want to double that to £100m by 2010,” he said.

The company has already identified five potential acquisition targets in the UK.

“Clearly we are aiming to grow organically, but we also intend to bolt on some acquisitions,” he said. “We are looking for other niche distribution businesses that have product brands or franchises that are incremental to our own.”

He said the firm is also keen to boost headcount. “We have recruited two people to handle the Eastern European market and a couple of people for the German market. We are recruiting across the board, but are keeping an eye on quality rather than quantity,” he added.

Tony Buchan, director of Bank of Scotland Corporate in Manchester, said: “Gamma Global is a well-run organisation, so we were only too happy to provide this funding.”
