Ex-Vodafone heads launch channel outfit

Vendor The Key Revolution, founded by a number of ex-Vodafone employees, is hoping to make waves in the UK channel with its Mobiu USB device.

The Key Revolution
licenses patented technology from Vodafone, which also holds shares in the company.

The Mobiu uses software to give users remote access to documents stored in an online vault.

A PC backup service is also provided and the initial release is compatible with Windows Vista and XP, although The Key Revolution chief executive Adrian Burholt told CRN that he hopes to release a Mobiu that is compatible with Macs by the end of the year.

“The Mobiu will be valuable for resellers who deal with data security or data mobility solutions,” he said. “We are open to talking to as many people as possible in these early stages.”

Burholt claimed his company’s technology was well suited for use by SMEs with about 50 employees, but also indicated that he was keen to break into the enterprise market and the public sector.

“Through Vodafone we see plenty of opportunity. It is a name that people recognise for credible and robust technology,” he said.

Paul Anderson, UK and Ireland sales director for vendor Trend Micro, claimed the current endpoint security market was a challenging environment for new entrants.

“Everyone is becoming more and more aggressive around price at the moment, so it is going to be tough.”
