Indian IT services giant Wipro and mobile technology firm Motorola today announced a new joint venture to offer managed network services to firms.

WMNetServ will be fully operational by the end of August and will provide firms with a full range of network design, planning, rollout, maintenance and optimisation services, according to Dr AL Rao, chief operating officer at Wipro.

Wipro will have a majority stake in the new firm, which will be headquartered in Europe, and will run its primary delivery centre in India.

Rao said the new firm will predominantly target existing Motorola and Wipro customers. "This is the first time an offshore outsourcer has combined with an equipment vendor and the partnership will allow us to offer the most cost-effective outsourced network services to Motorola clients," he added.
