The UK's enterprise search market got more crowded this week as French search vendor Sinequa officially launched in this country, promising to reduce complexity and cost of ownership for organisations.

The firm's flagship product Sinequa CS is based on a combination of semantic algorithms and syntax analysis to improve relevancy for users and to cover the widest range of content possible, according to the firm's UK manager Colin Hadden.

"It can generate search results and concepts around those results," he explained. "Basically you can point the engine at content and get good user-focused results without any tuning at all."

Sinequa CS is currently connected to over 20 information sources including EMC Documentum, SAP, Oracle and Sharepoint and a generic connector capability can enable access to legacy and proprietary applications "in a couple of weeks rather than months", added Hadden.

Security has also been factored into the product from its inception, in the form of more connectors that enable Sinequa CS to "use whatever security is in situ on the site", reducing costly and time-consuming integration efforts, said Hadden.

The technology also supports 18 languages and can be configured to recognise specific business language, according to the firm.
