HP and Citrix go virtual

HP announces support for Citrix XenDesktop

Written by Phil Muncaster

HP boosted its virtualisation credentials today by announcing that its ProLiant server and Compaq thin client products will support Citrix's forthcoming virtual desktop offering, XenDesktop.

Citrix XenDesktop enables firms to deliver virtual Windows desktops from the data centre. Benefits of the new product, which will be available from next month, include simplified desktop management, faster user provisioning, improved data security and cost savings of up to 40 per cent, according HP.

"The combination of HP virtualisation and Citrix’s XenDesktop will provide IT departments with an excellent solution for simple and secure management of their desktop base while providing users an optimal computing experience," said Roberto Moctezuma, general manager of HP's desktop solutions unit, in a statement.

HP and Citrix have previously partnered to deliver the ProLiant iVirtualization virtual server platform, which is powered by Citrix XenServer.
