OpenView integrates automated network management

Licenses Voyence VoyagerControl NG software to configure ISP, outsourcer and enterprise data centre environments.

HP has agreed to license Voyence's automated network change and management solution for integration into its OpenView management suite.

Many organisations currently use similar third party software to configure server, network device and storage management policies from one interface. But integrating Voyence's VoyageControl NG software into OpenView will yield significant convenience and cost savings, according to Dave Clark, UK head of pre-software sales for HP OpenView.

"It gives customers a one stop shop which means that long term total cost of ownership (TCO) will come down." He said.

The Voyence application allows network managers to automatically deploy policy based configuration rules to routers, switches and other core network devices, and is particularly useful in large enterprise networks or data centres where manual configuration would take too many expensive man hours, said HP.

"It's also useful for bringing down the cost of compliance because there is only one audit trail." Added Clarke.

Automated data centre management is becoming a significant issue for many organisations, including those managing large internet service provider (ISP) and outsourcer environments. A host of vendors have recently outlined integrated data centre management tools, including Symantec's with its Data Centre Foundation suite.
