SMC Networks has launched a 24-port managed Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet switch that is priced at E600 (£416 + VAT).

The TigerSwitch 1000 is 1U, standalone small-office or workgroup switch that features four combination uplink ports supporting optional SX, LX or ZX SFP transceivers (available at extra cost) for connection to high-speed fibreoptic backbones.

Based on a single-chip architecture, it includes advanced management and security features including 802.1x, IP filtering, QoS, traffic prioritisation and virtual LAN tagging, as well as Spanning Tree Protocol support for loop detection and prevention.
