The Enermax Laureate Enclosure is aimed at anyone who wants to back up important documents and files to an external drive, but either wants to cut the cost of buying a pre-built unit or has a spare 3.5in hard disk.
It can be attached via USB to either a PC or Mac and comes with a manual that explains the whole process, from dismantling the enclosure to formatting the disk.
The first thing you'll notice is the unit's build quality. Made from aluminium, the Laureate feels really solid, and the black or silver finish looks smart too.
It can take either an IDE or Serial ATA hard disk, and Enermax has included the cables for both in the kit. We used a 250GB Sata drive, and the hard disk's installation was quick and simple.
Despite the case not housing a single fan, drives up to 10,000rpm are supported.
The only downside is that it's not a wireless unit, and good practice dictates that back ups should be kept in a different room to the original.
But at this price, you can't expect inbuilt wireless and the Enermax Laureate is small enough to be moved.
