This mid-range EP747 DLP projector is ideal for larger meeting rooms and has a range of connectivity and configuration options.
The bright, 3,000 Ansi lumens output is complemented by a 2,200:1 contrast ratio, so presentations and video are watchable even on large screens in well-lit rooms.
Although not designed as a home cinema projector, lots of connection options are provided including VGA, DVI, S-video and composite video.
Adapters provide Scart and component video capability and the projector will accept 1080i and 720p high-definition (HD) modes. HDCP is supported over DVI for future compatibility with copy-protected HD content.
There are six preset video modes: in PC mode, maximum brightness is achieved by making full use of the white segment in its four-segment (RGBW) colour wheel.
Although this does have a negative impact on contrast and colour reproduction, it’s ideal for presentations and non-video displays.
Also included are Photo, Video and Cinema modes and an sRGB mode to provide colour accuracy that matches PC monitors.
These modes make less use of the white segment, producing dimmer images but with far better colour reproduction. In the User mode you can tweak just about everything including individual levels of both primary (RGB) and secondary (CMY) colours.
In our tests. we found the DLP ‘rainbow’ effect to be quite noticeable, although this is highly subjective and many people don’t notice it at all.
Manually operated zoom and focus controls with a throw ratio of 2:1-2.4:1 yield a screen diagonal of 75cm from a distance of 1.2m. A short-throw adapter is available to allow larger screen sizes in smaller meeting rooms.
The supplied full-size remote control is slim and easy to use and comes with a built-in laser pointer. There are no motorised adjustments or auto-focus but the EP747 delivers business-grade performance and will accept almost any input source.
