A Wall Street analyst has claimed that the new versions of Apple's iPod Nanos and video iPod players might be delayed by almost six months.
American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu told clients in a research note that the Nanos and the widescreen video iPod, which were supposed to ship in the third or fourth quarter of this year, could be delayed by between three and six months.
This means that the new Nano will be in shops in time for Christmas, not September, writes sister title the Inquirer.
According to Apple Insider, the reason for the delay is Apple's change of SOC (system-on-a-chip) supplier Portalplayer to Samsung.
Wu thinks that the prices for the gear will remain the same, but that storage capacities will be doubled.
Apple's shares took a tumble and this is the second hit of bad news for Apple in a matter of days, after Foxconn, the company's iPod manufacturer in China, admitted breaking that country's employment rights rules for factory workers.
It is now being investigated by Apple, after admitting that employees often had to work up to 80 extra hours a month to produce the music player.
