This is just one in a range of Getting Started Sports Books, which are aimed at children aged four to eight years of age. They are designed to help children understand the basics of sport (in this case, football), and teach them about sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork.
This book comes in PDF format, ready for printing off and making into an A4-sized book - a great supplement to the physical teaching of the game that children can take home and read with ease.
Written in a fun, happy style, it is bound to keep children's attention. Add to this the fact that each page incorporates an image that is designed to be coloured in by the child, and you have a book that children, whether boys or girls, will enjoy reading.
Text is kept to a minimum, but every detail your child will need to grasp an understanding of football is included, with plenty of diagrams of the pitch and player positions.
This demonstration includes half of the book only, but register and you get the complete book for a bargain price of about £7.50 ($14.95). This includes unlimited printing rights for your school or household - this means you can print it as many times as you like!
Not only does Getting Started In Soccer teach the rules of the game, but it also explains elements such as player positions, equipment used, and other aspects like throw-ins, passing and defending. Most importantly, it makes great emphasis on the fact that football is a team game requiring teamwork.
The only downside is the use of the word 'soccer' as opposed to 'football', but then this is a US publication.
