There are so many video and audio players, but keeping them updated and available across multiple operating systems, isn’t easy. Even the big software developers such as Microsoft and Real struggle to make their latest video players and codecs available for the Mac platform. Windows Media Player always seems to be one or two revisions behind the Windows counterpart, which means that it can’t always play video encoded with the most recent edition.
Windows Media Components for QuickTime is a suite of tools that use Apple’s QuickTime, which ships with the Mac OS X operating system, to provide support for the latest Windows Media codecs. In return, this means you can play back Windows Media content from within QuickTime.
These new Components support the new Intel-based Mac platform.
Note that this product doesn't support content that is protected with Windows Media digital rights management (DRM).
