Back in the early days of web development, coding up pages was all done by hand and you had to know the HTML (and Javascript) scripting language. Improvements were always forthcoming, then CSS appeared and you had to take on board other languages such as ASP and PHP. Dreamweaver became the default choice for most web developers as it enabled you to produce pages through coding up using the script, whilst previewing the content as development progresses.

Dreamweaver is a complete site development toolkit. Specify the location of your site (on your hard drive and on your server) then start developing the pages. When you want to add graphics, you can move across to Fireworks CS3 and, once edited, the work will appear within Dreamweaver. Preview your pages and, once complete, upload to the server through Dreamweaver. All the tools to code, preview and maintain your site are included.

Dreamweaver is a powerful web development tool that enables you to code your site in more than just raw HTML. It has powerful CSS support so you can either edit an existing style sheet or define a sheet from scratch, within the application. It also supports a template-based approach to web design, so if you need to create multiple pages of a similar design, create a template and then design pages around this template. If you need to make a change to the design, simply edit the template and all the pages coded from this template will be updated.
