Virtual Internet will next week launch an improved version of its automated domain name registration service, Nomodo, after admitting that "flakey" technology had caused problems for some customers.
The London-based company said some customers had been experiencing problems with web and email forwarding to domain names registered via Nomodo for around four weeks. It said customers were told of the problems in an email last week.
Nomodo has now completely rebuilt the technology behind its service and will launch a new-look website on Tuesday 13 February. It will include the facility to register up to 25 domain name types and will have clearer customer support options - something missing from the original service.
Jason Drummond, chief executive of Virtual Internet, which launched Nomodo last year, said: "Our customer service was reasonably light because we originally decided [Nomodo] would not require much customer support."
"The number of people who have had problems is quite small," he added.
Stephen Etheridge, general manager of domain name projects at the company, said the old system, built in-house, was unreliable and "a little bit flakey".
Customers experiencing problems should send an email to support@nomodo.com or contact Virtual Internet technical support on 020 7565 1700.
