Hewlett Packard (HP) has had a number of successes in its crackdown on Asian pirates of its products.
Not distracted by its merger with Compaq, HP has been liasing for the last four months with police investigators in India and China and has uncovered some major counterfeit stashes.
In raids in Mumbai and Chennai, India, police found large collections of fake HP printer cartridges and accessories. In Mumbai alone authorities found 5,500 security labels and more than 500 inkjet boxes.
Late last year HP was involved in raids in China, one of which threw up over 87,000 fake cartridges and accessories.
"Our programme investments have begun to reap rewards," the company said. "We will continue to work hard and fight against counterfeiters through similar actions."
