Snuff out death website, say parents

Chilean site tells you how and when you will die

Written by Nick Farrell

Parents in Chile are calling on the government to kill a website that tells users how and when they will die.

The Spanish language site predicts the date and manner of users' deaths based on responses to 23 questions such as: Do you like driving fast? Have you ever considered suicide? Do you own a firearm?

Based on this information, visitors are told that they won't come out of a coma; will kill themselves drink driving; or be killed in a terrorist attack.

The site has proved a hit in South America, but has caused an outcry. One 14 year-old Chilean schoolgirl was told: "You will die in 2018 slashing your wrists in front of a mirror."

Another girl claimed that she suffered nightmares after reading that she would be strangled by a psychopath.

Soledad Castillo, the mother of one girl, told Las Ultimas Noticias newspaper: "The people behind this are extremely irresponsible."

The website's designers claim that, by answering truthfully, users will get the answer to one of mankind's most frequently asked questions.
