Only four per cent of UK mobile users are planning to upgrade to 3G because of fears that the next-generation services will be too complex, a survey has claimed today.

A poll commissioned by mobile firm Netonomy indicated that over 70 per cent of respondents believe that mobile phone services are becoming more complicated to understand and configure.

The poll, conducted by YouGov across 2,000 UK consumers, suggests that UK consumers are becoming increasingly confused by mobile services, a fact that is deterring them from upgrading to 3G handsets.

The survey found that only 41 per cent of respondents are confident that they will find 3G phones and services easy to use, while just four per cent are actually planning to upgrade to 3G.

The results also revealed gender differences: 48 per cent of male respondents are confident that they will find 3G services easy to use, compared to only 35 per cent of female respondents.
