Digital video recorder and set-top box company TiVo has announced the launch to US customers of its Series2 DT DVR.

Available in shops from the beginning of May, the TiVo Series2 DT is touted as the first standalone dual-tuner DVR that can record two shows at once.

The DVR also incorporates built-in Ethernet and USB ports for enhanced connectivity to the home network.

The device features TiVoToGo Transfers which allows customers to take their favourite shows with them on the road by transferring them to a laptop or selected portable players.

Online Scheduling allows users to schedule recordings from anywhere via the internet, while Online Services allows users to view their own photo slideshows and those shared by friends with Yahoo Photos.

"We've been hearing from our subscribers that they wanted a TiVo DVR that could record two shows at once," said Jim Denney, vice president of product marketing at TiVo.

"With the TiVo Series2 DT DVR, we've delivered that capability to our customers at a very affordable price."

The TiVo DVR is available in an 80-hour model priced at $99.99.
