Video sharing site YouTube has signed an agreement with Paris Hilton to promote a channel dedicated to the hotel heiress.

Branded channels are a new revenue stream for the video site, which reported costs of $1m a month in bandwidth fees alone.

Paris Hilton's YouTube channel currently offers 13 videos, from behind-the-scenes material of the making of her latest music video to footage of a recent trip to Tokyo

Hilton's channel has been viewed by over 20,000 users and 450 people have subscribed at the time of writing. It is currently rated as the fifth most viewed channel of the day and 11th most subscribed to of the week.

"Hey YouTubers, it's Paris," says Hilton in an introductory video on her channel.

"YouTube is the hottest community on the web and that's where I want to be. My album is out now and I want to share it with all of you. It's called Paris and I hope you love it.

"I've got my own YouTube channel and there you can see me in the recording studio for my new music video Stars are Blind, even me out partying or just hanging out with my friends.

"So I hope you enjoy it and come see. It's hot. Enjoy the experience and send me a comment to let me know what you think about the music. And now stay tuned for my video Stars are Blind. I hope you enjoy it. Bye sexy."

Hilton's channel is sponsored by Rupert Murdoch's Fox Broadcasting and features adverts for the forthcoming series of Prison Break

An old-age pensioner recently became the latest star of teen-oriented YouTube. Over 850,000 people have viewed his first video since it was uploaded and more than 14,000 have subscribed to his video feed, making him one of the most popular contributors to the site.
