Centralised computing vendor ClearCube has signed an agreement with Lenovo to bring ClearCube's hardware and software to Europe. 

ClearCube makes PC blades and the hardware and software to support the technology.

Rather than equip each desk with an individual PC, and all the desktop management that goes with it, the offerings feature a thin client-like set-up, ClearCube's User Port, Sentral software and PC blade in the data centre.

Each user can have a dedicated blade, or can be virtualised with applications and computing resources shared on an on-demand basis.

When the user logs on, the software looks at their usage profile and automatically allocates resources accordingly, so a chief engineer, for example, would get more processor power than an admin assistant.

Virtualisation and centralisation are growing in popularity among companies making heavy use of IT for many reasons.

These include management and support of desktop computing resources, reducing heat requirements in crowded data centres through consolidation, and increasing reliability by reducing the number of computing elements.
