Google has modified its Google Mini search appliance, aiming the rack-mounted box at smaller businesses and departmental groups.
Google Mini is an integrated hardware and software product featuring document and user-level security, as well as access to any business content through Google OneBox for Enterprise.
OneBox is a front-end search capability that lets businesses provide secure access to any information through a Google search box.
"When the Google Mini was introduced two years ago, it set a new standard for sophisticated search features in a small, simple and affordable appliance," said Dave Girouard, vice president and general manager at Google Enterprise.
"As search becomes more critical to businesses of all sizes, we continue to add even more sophisticated search features that, until now, had only been available to large businesses."
Google Mini is available from $1,995 in configurations that search from 50,000 up to 300,000 documents.
New features allow site administrators to link Google Mini search results with Google Analytics to provide more detailed information about how people use search on their site in order to improve the overall experience.
The new Google Mini also automatically generates sitemaps allowing webmasters to expose more public content for crawling and indexing by Google.com.
