T-Mobile launches UK music download site

Deal with ARTISTdirect to offer UK site

Written by Ian Williams

T-Mobile and music download site ARTISTdirect have joined forces to announce the launch of a new UK service

The site is based on the same format as the US version, but will offer additional enhancements through the integration of exclusive T-Mobile content.

The launch follows the success of T-Mobile's Street Gigs live music event series and its flagship Transmission with T-Mobile programme with Channel 4.

Sam Taylor, head of advertising and brands at T-Mobile, said: "The shared vision, creativity and innovation of ARTISTdirect.com make it a great partner for T-Mobile.

"We recognise the importance of online communities in offering the best opportunity to interact with our customers."

The site provides a comprehensive listing of global music artists and genres as well as news, commentary and features and a wide range of T-Mobile content and features, including detailed artist information, tickets and video picks.

"T-Mobile is equally passionate about supporting new as well as established recording acts, and its innovative features and services will enable us to provide visitors with an even broader range of content across multiple types of media," said Jon Diamond, chief executive at ARTISTdirect.

The ARTISTdirect network claims 15 million unique visitors in the US and 40 million worldwide, of which four million are from the UK.
