Aston Martin beats iPod in the cool stakes

Bond car number one in CoolBrands Top 10

Written by Matt Chapman

Apple's iPod has been beaten into second place when it comes to cool, as Aston Martin claimed the top spot in a survey of the coolest brands.

Technology brands dominated the CoolBrands Top 10, but it was the car manufacturer famous for its connection with James Bond that took first place.

The iPod came in second, followed by YouTube, Bang & Olufsen, Google, PlayStation, Apple and Nintendo.

Apple made it into the top 20 no fewer than three times, with the iPod, the company itself and iTunes, which was placed at number 19.

However, there was no place in the top 20 for Facebook, MySpace or Bebo, despite their recent rise in popularity.

The 26-member CoolBrands Council that decides the list includes Vogue.com editor Dolly Jones, TV presenter June Sarpong, Dazed & Confused editor-in-chief Nicki Bidder and Radio 1 DJ Trevor Nelson.

The Top 20 CoolBrands:
