Samsung unveils flagship DSLR camera

14.6 mega-pixel snapper for £699

Written by Guy Dixon

Samsung has put the cat among the camera pigeons with the launch of the 14.6 mega-pixel GX-20.

Due out in March, this will be Samsung’s first camera to use its own 23.5x15.7mm CMOS sensor.

Priced at around £699.99 the GX-20 features an Enhanced Digital Filter which the company claims "allows a greater dynamic range of exposures and can also be used to add various effects or compensate for missing pixels after taking a picture".

The camera also boasts a wide view 2.7 in TFT LCD at a resolution of 230k pixels and offers live view through the optical viewfinder or LCD display.

The GX-20 comes with 72 water-resistant and anti-dusting body seals and a Dual Dust Removal System for removing particles from the sensor, which the manufacturer says makes it robust enough to withstand taking shots in wet, sandy or dusty conditions.

In a bid to prevent image blur, the GX-20 comes with built-in Optical Picture Stabilisation (OPS) technology, moving the CCD to compensate for any shaking of the camera’s body.
