John Pleasants Chief operating officer, EA

Video game publisher EA has appointed John Pleasants as its new president of Global Publishing and chief operating officer.

The ex-chief executive of consumer health firm Revolution Health Group and online ticketing site Ticketmaster will head up EA's Global Publishing Organisation, Corporate Communications and Government Affairs. He will also lead its Online, Central Development and Technology teams.

Pleasants will start his new job right away and will report directly to EA boss John Riccitiello.

"John's experience as a business operator, his knowledge of online consumer relationships and his ability to lead large global teams will be a big asset to EA," said Riccitiello.

EA recently made an aggressive take-over bid for rival Take-Two which owns video game developer Rockstar Games.
